As my dear friends in blog land share photos of Knee Deep Snow,I wanted to share how we in Central Florida are dealing with our week long record breaking cold. Did I mention it was 26 this morning!
Our Plants are of the tropical nature and stay green during the winter but sort of go to sleep. However they will not tolerate our Current cold snap. So in an attempt to save them we cover our plants with sheets, towels, blankets anything to keep the frost off....let me present my coat of many colors
Now in my defense, let me say the sheets have been purchased at tag, estate and thrift stores over the years, making it a wild collection!
If you ever find yourself living in Florida with a cold snap on the way,I recommend picking up King Flat sheets, they are grand for the larger plants!
Below is a photo of one my favorite flower beds
Part of the festivities is keeping the sheets attached,a good gust of wind, and your treasured friend is out in the cold!clothes pins are my anchor of choice.
I had just planted some pink and white mums in this Vintage Picnic basket. Bambi was a treasured discovery in Ohio a couple summers ago.
So now we wait,I am afraid that 8 days of extended cold weather may take a tole on my garden friends, but for now we wait ........
Life is my Canvas!
