A Tradition with a Twist

Following an American Tradition,I found myself in a Pumpkin Patch. I started to take a closer at the Pumpkins,not are they perfectly round,with a flat bottom,but at personality.

The Wonderful Stems! The Stems really are so Grand! Each with its own little twist,shape and size.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This Stem had to be 4" inches thick!

 

The Grooves in this Treasure were Beautiful!

Then in the middle of all this wonderful Round Orange Goodness,was this little guy.

What a Cool Color! Almost a neon yellow! I tend to gravitate to the different,those that may be looked over by the crowd,think Charlie Brown Christmas Tree....which one do you think I took home!

Tea Time Cottage Style!

Garden Update

Seems my Compost Bromeliad was soooo proud to be featured on the blog it sent up 6 more blooms!!!  

Amazing! Did I mention I had thrown these into the Compost!

A Day of Numbers

Today is 10-10,which of course sent my mind wondering ....Gee,I wonder how many Brides will get married next year on 10-10-10! But Some other Numbers have troubled me today this one. This is temperature here today,note the reflection of the sweet pumpkins I found this morning!

Then There is one more pesky number

That is how many days until Christmas!

Cookbooks A look at History!

I enjoy reading Vintage Cookbooks,they are such a window into American History. I recently listed a Cookbook on ebay that was given to the consumer with her new Majestic Refrigerator. This was 1931,and may have been the "Lovely Mrs" first experience with a Refrigerator! Imagine! This Cookbook explains to the new owner how some mixtures will not freeze,how keeping items Cool will extend the life of the items. But my Fav is how to make Ice Cubes! Today,ice is an afterthought,and in most homes are an automatic ice maker!

Fast forward to today's cookbooks,and many  are based on 30 minute Prep time and Cake Mixes! 

How Blessed we are to have so many Modern Conveniences,giving us more time to read blogs!

The Accidental Gardener !!!

One of my many Nick Names is the Accidental Gardener! Earned by this bit of evidence

This used to be a beautiful Plant,with bright pink flowers! I paid full retail price,and as you know I love to get my plants from the "half dead" Cart,they just seem to belong here in the land of the misfit toys!

  This is the top of one of my compost barrels,note the healthy Green plant. This Bromeliad was cut into several "pups" and given away,the dead one was composted,or so I thought!

Look closely.....yes that is a bloom!!! Not only is the Bromeliad Blooming,but it appears that a Spider Plant is also Thriving! This is a pattern in my Garden,seems nature has a way of letting us know just what will look good in our Gardens!!!!

Hints of Fall

While on my recent buying trip,hints of Fall were all around,The Cool Mornings,Sunflowers hanging heavy with seeds and leaves showing the slightest hint of change! These hints of Fall inspired this collection of Buttons I just listed in my etsy store.  The Shades of Golds,Browns and Reds just seem inspired by the colors of Fall! Take Time to enjoy the changes of the seasons!

Fall is Everywhere!

I am a firm believer in the early bird life style,so I thought I would share the sunrise at the big labor day event! The Vendors were abound,but I was drawn to the beautiful Fall displays!

These Sunflowers were Amazing!

I love Gourds in every room during the fall holidays!

I love it when the vendors take time to display there treasures!

This beautiful Fall Tree was displayed at an indoor vendor,she has an amazing store! Full of Primitive and Cottage Chic Charm!

I found myself at this particular spot for over an hour!!! I love digging in boxes and she had tons of them

A Labor Day Tradition!

My Grand Summer Treasures were so well recieved that I am going back! Yep and I can't wait! I am going for the Big 70th Annual Labor Day Weekend event! Here are just a few of the details:Labor Day is one of the largest events of the 20 acres of Blacktop! (I Love that part),200 covered spaces and 800 (yes I said 800) outdoor spaces! Thursday,Friday,and Saturday are build up days for Labor Day (Closed Sunday) Yes of course I will take you along! This is one of the Vendors I found this summer,I just loved all her great Cottage Chic Treasures! The Weather is going to be cool,but after our months of 90 plus weather it will be a gift!

Church Sale Find!

As We prepare to redecorate the bedroom,I have started to Gather Treasures,this Amazing Vintage Shoe Mirror was a Perfect Find!

I am told that once upon a time you entered a shoe store,and selected a shoe style. A Sales Clerk went to the stock room and found your size,if a child the clerk would measure your foot to establish the correct size. Once the shoes were on and you wanted to view your new shoes on your feet,the sales clerk would grab this mirror by the top and handle and bring it over so you could admire your fashionable selection! Imagine!

Some finds are a love at first sight,and this was it!
