Salvage = Inspiration

As most of the country is enjoying Spring weather,we are starting to feel the heat of Summer. With climbing temps and increasing humidity we took this last opportunity to visit our favorite Salvage store.

Look close,below those letters,yes,those are all vintage windows!

This fabulous collection of Salvage is in a huge building that has no air conditioning! In Florida that is unthinkable. So before shopping is prohibitive,we took one last stroll of inspiration.

There is nothing better than a walk thru a rusty,patina loaded salvage yard to get my creative juices flowing. Do you have a salvage yard or store near by? Mothers Day Event

The gals and guys at Somewhere in Time have been busy preparing for our mothers day event. I hope my local blog friends will stop by!

 

 

I have prepared a tray of Lemon bars as part of the yummy refreshments. The sidewalk will be full of grand treasures,and the inside is sparkling and ready for our big event. Discounts store wide along with drawings and a contest to win a 100.00 gift certificate.

Be sure to bring mom as we celebrate mothers day!

If you follow my pin boards,I have a board of “thoughts” bits of wisdom and inspiration I like to reflect on. The other morning I came across these bits of inspiration and wanted to share them with you.

To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me.
It is the most-requested column I've ever written. My odometer rolls over to 50 this week, so here's an update:
1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.
2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.
3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
4. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
5. Pay off your credit cards every month.
6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.
8. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it.
9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.
10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.
11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.
12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.
13. Don't compare your life to others'. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.
15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don't worry; God never blinks.
16. Life is too short for long pity parties. Get busy living, or get busy dying.
17. You can get through anything if you stay put in today.
18. A writer writes. If you want to be a writer, write.
19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.
20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer.
21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special.
22. Overprepare, then go with the flow.
23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.
24. The most important sex organ is the brain.
25. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words: "In five years, will this matter?"
27. Always choose life.
28. Forgive everyone everything.
29. What other people think of you is none of your business.
30. Time heals almost everything. Give time time.
31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
32. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch.
33. Believe in miracles.
34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do.
35. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.
36. Growing old beats the alternative - dying young.
37. Your children get only one childhood. Make it memorable.
38. Read the Psalms. They cover every human emotion.
39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.
40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.
41. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.
42. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.
43. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.
44. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
45. The best is yet to come.
46. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
47. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.
48. If you don't ask, you don't get.
49. Yield.

The Fancy Flea was Amazing!

The street looked like this most of the day! We were blessed with perfect weather!

I was able to take a few photos early in the morning.

This chair is just amazing,Samantha Wall is the artist she joined us all the way from Georgia,what a talent! I look forward to seeing what she brings in the Fall!

Most of the gals were not set up when I was dashing around taking pictures,but they were kind enough to let me snap away!

Spring Sale!

I am just starting to get settled into my new space at Somewhere in Time and we are having a Spring sale.

Not only are these sales a great opportunity to find that special treasure at a special Sale price. But many of the gals and guys will be on hand to greet and visit with each and everyone of you! There are always yummy refreshments and I am planning on baking my world (ok maybe not world) famous carrot cake cupcakes!

The Annual Chiseler Sale

The annual Chiseler sale was held on Saturday. You may ask,”what on Earth is a Chiseler?” The Chiselers' are a great group of ladies that raise money to maintain one of our historic buildings in downtown Tampa. The name Chiseler came from the first project  50 years ago,the volunteers chiseled the mortar from between the bricks on the building. Thus the Chiselers were born!

They hold an annual fund raising treasure hunt sale,and it is amazing!

We were in line before the sun came up,and one gentleman came prepared!

The line grew as “zero hour” approached.

 

 

I attempted to take a photo of the crowd in just one room of the sale,however the image does not really show the size of the crowd. Trust me,it was bumper to bumper!

 

The group was great everyone was very patient with each other as we bumped into each other and stepped on toes!

Check out this great cabinet!

This gem was marked 25.00!! Another reason for the crowd is they sell amazing items at amazing prices. The original crackle on the cabinet and wavy glass had a crowd of people admiring somebodies fabulous find!

This year food trucks provided lunch,I don’t think it was as popular as the catering used in the past.

A fun event,raising money for a great cause! Can’t ask for more than that!

Somewhere in Time

I am thrilled to announce that I will be back with the gals and guys at Somewhere in Time,a fabulous antique mall in Brandon Florida.

I have so many ideas planned for my yummy spot,and I plan on sharing them all with you!

You may have noticed that I said I would be back at Somewhere in Time,as my dear friend said “you have just been on a little sabbatical”.  I was a member of Somewhere in Time a while ago and have missed the decorating and displaying involved with an antique booth,but most of all the friendships discovered.

If you are in the area,do stop in and say “hi”,you know how fussy I am,so it will take me a little time to get my little slice of heaven just how I like it.
